Family Dinner - Turkey Chili

We love chili for dinner and since I am the beady eyed vegetarian, making chili with turkey is the only way I can see it done. This is a great meal to quickly prep before you leave for the day or if you have a chance at lunch. It is so nice to have dinner done when you come home. I have heard it is just as good as with beef but I will let you be the judge and let me know.


1 1/4 lb uncooked ground turkey (you can sub the meat of your choice)

1/2 tbsp Nature's Seasoning

1/4 cup BrewBQSauce Mix

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp chopped onion

1 1/4 cup water

1 15 oz can tomato sauce

1 14 1/2 oz can diced tomatoes

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp cumin

1 15 oz can chili beans

1 can whole kernel yellow corn, drained

1/4 cup diced jalapeno, seeds and ribs removed

1/2 cup shredded cheese


Heat a medium skillet with olive oil. Add the ground turkey to the pan. Add BrewBQ Sauce Mix, Nature's Seasoning, salt and pepper. Cook the turkey until it is brown. Drain off any excess fat and discard. Add the turkey to your Crock-Pot with the next 9 ingredients (everything else except the cheese). Mix and set your Crock-Pot to 10 hours or slow. If you are making this in the afternoon you can use the 4 hour setting. When you are ready to serve, spoon it into bowls and add some cheese to the top. Serve with some tortilla chips on the side. This is quick and easy and fairly healthy. Let me know if you try it and what you did differently. Enjoy!
